Join Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy’s Virtual Presentation Biodiversity Information Collecting in the Nature Preserves

Join this virtual presentation to learn how you can help PVP collect information about biodiversity in the Nature Preserves using iNaturalist along their trails. They will share information about how to access local hiking trails, how to take pictures that are useful to scientific research and how to share those pictures through the community science platform iNaturalist. You can then put your training into action later in the week as you document wildlife in the preserves at your convenience during the City Nature Challenge April 26-April 29. During that time, you can hike the preserve trails, take pictures and post them to the iNaturalist. Their staff will be identifying and recording what observations are made to enhance our knowledge of the diverse wildlife using the preserves. No prior experience is necessary and all you need is a smartphone or a camera and a desire to get out on the trails to see what you can find. After registration, you will receive a Zoom link to access the training at least 1 day prior to the training date.No prior experience necessary, all you need is a smartphone or a camera and a desire to get out on the trails to see what you can find. Volunteer Onshore with Sea Shepherd Conservation Society

Helping to conserve, protect, and defend marine life requires time, dedication and passion and most importantly the readiness to show up and promote the Sea Shepherd mission through public awareness. The below are just a few of the things you can do as an Onshore Volunteer to support Sea Shepherd’s mission: table at a local event, expo, festival or create your own tabling event, hold a benefit for Sea Shepherd at a local restaurant, pub or community meeting place, organize beach and other marine environment clean-ups, cultivate public awareness through distribution of Sea Shepherd materials and giving presentations at schools and community forums, host a Sea Shepherd party at home for friends and family, provide valuable skills like graphic design work, photography or donate art for auctions. There is a $30 non-refundable donation required for each applicant. Not only does this help cover the cost of processing your application, but if you are approved as an Onshore Volunteer, this will help cover the cost of training, orientation, and the outreach materials they send you. Volunteer At Sea with Sea Shepherd Conservation Society

Sea Shepherd Conservation Society needs people who are compelled to fight the injustices perpetrated upon whales, dolphins, seals, sea turtles, sea birds, fish, and every living thing in the world’s oceans.
