Transport Hay for Los Angeles Rabbit Foundation

Volunteer(s) needed to pick up 1-3 bales of hay from Riverside Dr. in Glendale or from Red Barn in Reseda, bag it, then deliver it to West Los Angeles and/or Playa del Rey. Hay and fuel costs will be covered by the Los Angeles rabbit Foundation (unless you want to cover the costs and then get a charitable receipt from the organization). Since traffic is lighter on the weekends, most "hay elves" prefer to pick up hay then--but any day is fine, as long as someone is available to receive the hay. They will work with your schedule. The frequency of each volunteer's hay runs will depend on the number of new hay elves they recruit. They currently have one hay elf doing a weekly or bi-weekly run, depending on demand for the hay. Since the demand has gone up to the point where they need hay weekly, and their primary hay elf needs a break, they need more hay elves. REQUIREMENTS: Driver's License Needed, Must be at least 18, 2-3 hours, Must be 100% reliable. Visit: https://www.volunteermatch.org/search/opp948339.jsp

Care for Cute Rabbits with Los Angeles Rabbit Foundation

Help abandoned rabbits by cleaning, socializing, and assisting at adoption venues and/or animal shelters. Los Angeles Rabbit Foundation has a special need for volunteers who care for rabbits in shelters. This involves cleaning and feeding the bunnies, and/or socializing and exercising them. It's also important that volunteers work with others kindly. And you have to be willing to take direction when it comes to what and how the rabbits are fed and cared for, as they have a set routine. They'll work with your schedule. Volunteers must be at least 12 years old with parents present, or over 16 if volunteering without a guardian. REQUIREMENTS: Must be at least 12,1 hour per year minimum. If you sign up to volunteer at an animal shelter, you will have to go through the process that shelter requires. Foster a Rabbit for Los Angeles Rabbit Foundation

Fostering a bunny or two is a fulfilling way to help save rabbits without the long-term expenses or commitment. You can foster for any length of time. Prefer homes within 20 miles of adoption venue (Mar Vista/West LA). Indoors only! They do not stick their foster homes with rabbits like some other groups do. They're a premier rabbit organization; their rabbits are neutered and box trained to varying degrees. They do not cage rabbits: they live in a playpen when not supervised, or a well-bunnyproofed room. Thank you for helping them save lives! REQUIREMENTS: Driver's License Needed, Background Check, Must be at least 18. Humane care is outlined in our foster home contract. Here's the basic information on fostering for them: http://larabbits.org/volunteer/fostering/ .Please fill out the online application here if you want to foster or adopt: http://larabbits.org/adoption-application/

Make Wooden Boxes for Rabbits with Los Angeles Rabbit Foundation

They need wooden boxes for their rescued rabbits. The boxes will be patterned after rabbit "nest boxes" and would keep bunnies warmer, and give them a place to hide and a box to jump on. Unfortunately they don't have the funding for any supplies so they would have to be donated. Supplies: 3/4" solid unfinished pine wood, small nails or screws. They have a blueprint for the boxes that they'll email to anyone wanting to make them. This would be a super project for a school group, Eagle Scouts, etc. Visit: https://www.volunteermatch.org/search/opp2719712.jsp

Volunteer withLove On 4 Paws

Why do they take animals to visit? They want to share our animals with other people - especially those who are more vulnerable, lonely, or in pain. Working with the people they visit is rewarding and fun. It is wonderful to see the affection between the patients and the dogs. In the case of some of the children they visit, the Love On 4 Paws program is their first opportunity to touch or play with an animal. Being a Love On 4 Paws volunteer is not always easy. You'll have to deal with hospital requirements (TB tests, written exams), frequent dog baths, yearly dog health exams, LA traffic, etc. But, the joy and happiness you and your wonderful animal can bring to people who are bedridden, in wheelchairs, or isolated from normal companionship is unbelievable!!! Love On 4 Paws volunteers need to be 18 or more years old, and must be able to pass a basic background check. Visit: https://www.loveon4paws.org/volunteer/
