Facilitate Lifelong Bonds with SEAACA as an Adoption Assistant

SEAACA prioritizes the long-term success of every adoption by facilitating pre-adoption interactions between the public and their potential new pets. Adoption Assistants work closely with families to supervise meet-and-greets, ensuring that the chemistry is right and that the animal’s temperament aligns with the owner's expectations. They observe these interactions and provide expert feedback to both the staff and the adopters, helping to ensure that every "match" is a great one before the adoption is finalized. This role is vital for reducing return rates and building happy, lifelong bonds between people and their pets. Must be 18+

Support Pet Wellness with SEAACA at the Veterinary Clinic

SEAACA streamlines the operations of their public Wellness Clinic by utilizing volunteers to assist with essential administrative and customer service tasks. During busy vaccination and microchipping clinics, these assistants greet pet owners and help them navigate the check-in process and necessary health paperwork. By managing the flow of customers and ensuring all documentation is accurate, they allow the medical staff to focus on providing direct care to the animals. This role is an excellent way for those interested in veterinary science or public health to see how a high-volume clinic supports the local community's pets. Must be 18+

Provide Professional Expertise with SEAACA as a Veterinary Volunteer or Intern

SEAACA provides specialized pathways for Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) students and licensed veterinarians to give back to the community while gaining or sharing valuable expertise. RVT Interns work under professional supervision to complete their required hours, assisting with clinical tasks and surgeries at the Downey facility. Additionally, they welcome licensed veterinarians to volunteer their time at off-site events and community vaccination clinics, providing the professional oversight needed to offer high-quality medical services to the public. This program bridges the gap between professional expertise and shelter needs, ensuring that all animals have access to top-tier care. Must be 18+ and meet professional or educational requirements.

Become A “Hay Elf” To Help Los Angeles Rabbit Foundation!

Volunteer(s) needed to pick up 1-3 bales of hay from Riverside Dr. in Glendale or from Red Barn in Reseda, bag it, then deliver it to West Los Angeles and/or Playa del Rey. Hay and fuel costs will be covered by the organization (unless you want to cover the costs and then get a charitable receipt from the organization). Since traffic is lighter on the weekends, most "hay elves" prefer to pick up hay then--but any day is fine, as long as someone is available to receive the hay. The frequency of each volunteer's hay runs will depend on the number of new hay elves recruited. Help Provide Animal Assisted Therapy as a Love On 4 Paws Volunteer

Love On 4 Paws wants to share animals with other people - especially those who are more vulnerable, lonely, or in pain. Working with the people they visit is rewarding and fun. It is wonderful to see the affection between the patients and the dogs. In the case of some of the children they visit, the Love On 4 Paws program is their first opportunity to touch or play with an animal. Being a Love On 4 Paws volunteer is not always easy. You'll have to deal with hospital requirements (TB tests, written exams), frequent dog baths, yearly dog health exams, LA traffic, etc. But, the joy and happiness you and your wonderful animal can bring to people who are bedridden, in wheelchairs, or isolated from normal companionship is unbelievable!!! Love On 4 Paws volunteers need to be 18 or more years old, and must be able to pass a basic background check. Click here to start the process: https://www.loveon4paws.org/volunteer/

Revitalize the Ranch with The Milo Foundation at Sanctuary Work Weekends

The Milo Foundation invites volunteers to "roll up their sleeves" and assist with vital projects at their 283-acre Milo Sanctuary in Mendocino County. These weekend events are designed for those who enjoy physical work and want to support the 200+ animals—including dogs, cats, horses, and farm animals—who reside at the sanctuary for long-term rehabilitation. Volunteers help with building projects, general ranch maintenance, and clearing land to keep the sanctuary safe and functional. While the work can be hot and dirty, they ensure participants get plenty of "dog kisses and cat purrs" as a reward for their labor. It is a rewarding way to see the "sanctuary" side of rescue work and contribute to the quality of life for animals who need more time to find their special homes. Volunteers are encouraged to stay at the on-site volunteer cabin and contribute to a variety of critical ranch projects. Adults preferred; skilled teens allowed with supervision.
