Their weekly volunteer program at Hanaeleh is for individuals who are able to commit to volunteering once per week. Please read all of the following information so you can decide if volunteering at Hanaeleh is right for you. Their weekly program is designed to equip our volunteers with the knowledge and skills to help support the work of their rescue and to provide continuity of care for their horses.Their trained volunteers come out every Saturday morning from 8:30 am to noon and specific times during the week. Advanced notice is needed if you cannot make it for your scheduled time. They are currently scheduling volunteers for mornings Monday through Saturday. Volunteers as young as 16 are welcome as long as they are accompanied by an adult. What you’ll be doing: Their volunteers learn the ins-and-outs of how the rescue runs. They muck out all of the horse’s stalls, wash and clean their feed bins, salt licks and water containers.They rake up hay around each stall and generally clean up all the ranch areas. After that they help with chores around the ranch and feed the horses.

Join TreePeople and CalFire in the beautiful San Francisquito Canyon of the Angeles National Forest. Below the rocky hills of the Sierra Pelona mountains, next to a creek leading to the Santa Clara River, they will be restoring an area of the wildlands damaged by the Copper Fire by caring for the native chaparral plants which provide deer, coyotes and others with food and shelter. Expect to get your hands dirty removing invasive weeds and carrying buckets of water to native plantings over uneven terrain.

Beautify Lunada Bay at Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy’s Volunteer Day

Join the PVP Land Conservancy from 9am-11:30am for a Beautify Lunada Bay Volunteer Day! The long-term goals of this project are to restore attractive, locally native, drought tolerant plants to open space areas in Lunada Bay. Help Habitat Restoration Work at the Agua Amarga Reserve with the Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy

Join the PVP Land Conservancy as they continue their habitat restoration work in Lunada Canyon at the Agua Amarga Nature Reserve. You will be removing non-native plants and/or planting coastal sage scrub habitat! You will be meeting at the trail head on Rock Park Dr. Street parking is available along Rock Park Drive and Kings Harbor Road. You will be working outdoors, so please wear closed-toed shoes, bug spray, sun protection and be sure to bring drinking water and a snack. This event is moderately strenuous. Please join TreePeople as they care for newly planted trees in the City of El Monte as part of their continuing project with CAL Fire helping to shade & beautify this city. They will be caring for 38 park trees in the city. The morning will include weeding, mulching, watering and fixing 8ft tall wooden stakes. Sign up for a Guided Tour with the Pasadena Humane Society

Pasadena Humane is more than a shelter; they are a resource for all animals in the community. Join them for a guided tour to learn more about how they help animals in need. During this hour-long tour, you’ll hear about their history, programs, and services while viewing adorable dogs, cats and critters looking for new homes. The tour will start at the Animal Resource Center. We’ll then travel through the Neely Cat Center and dog kennels learning more about the animals in our care. The tour will end at the Shelter Shop. Tours are appropriate for all ages and limited to 15 guests.

Visit Animals at Pasadena Humane Society

Pasadena Humane opens its doors for “Visiting Hours” on Saturdays and Sundays from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. (unless otherwise noted). Visitors are welcome to walk through the dog kennels, Neely Cat Center and Critter House to see the animals available for adoption. No appointment necessary.

Join Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy’s Outdoor Volunteer Day at the White Point Nature Preserve

Join the PVP Land Conservancy at White Point Nature Preserve! They will be planting native plant species and/or removing invasive, non-native plants to restore and improve critical habitat for wildlife at the preserve, and beautify outdoor natural space for the community. By volunteering you will help the Conservancy maintain and care for the White Point gardens by planting native shrubs, removing invasive weeds, watering, or laying down mulch and more! White Point is located at 1600 W. Paseo del Mar in San Pedro. You can access the Nature Preserve by entering the free parking lot from Western Avenue as it turns into Paseo del Mar. They are located at the end of the road on the left-hand side. Please note that events may be cancelled due to weather conditions. Join the Wiggle Waggle Walk & Run at the Pasadena Humane Society

The Wiggle Waggle Walk & Run is one of Pasadena Humane’s biggest events each year, with proceeds helping to save the lives of thousands of animals in our community with programs such as foster care, kitten nursery, animal ICU, wildlife and more. In addition to the Walk & Run course, you and your pup can stroll through the Vendor Marketplace, play in the Sit, Stay, and Play!
