Pasadena Humane opens its doors for “Visiting Hours” on Saturdays and Sundays from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. (unless otherwise noted). Visitors are welcome to walk through the dog kennels, Neely Cat Center and Critter House to see the animals available for adoption. No appointment necessary.

Their weekly volunteer program at Hanaeleh is for individuals who are able to commit to volunteering once per week. The beautiful 45-acre headquarters serves as a critical community space for hikers, bikers, students, and wildlife. Help contribute to the biodiversity, climate resilience, and natural beauty of the park by removing invasive species, installing native plants and maintaining the trail to prevent erosion and wildfires.

Come help care for this half-mile greenway along the LA River! The trail provides natural respite to the surrounding community and bolsters habitat for wildlife in a heavily urbanized area. They will continue putting native plants in the ground, watering, weeding, pruning, and collecting seeds as they work to re-wild this stretch of open space.

Join TreePeople for Park Work Day! Come to their beautiful 45-acre headquarters atop Mulholland Dr. where hikers, bikers and school children enjoy the trails, trees and views in one of L.A.’s most loved parks. Help keep the park looking great by maintaining the trails, removing invasive plants, and regrading slopes to protect them from erosion.

Join TreePeople and CalFire in the beautiful San Francisquito Canyon of the Angeles National Forest. Below the rocky hills of the Sierra Pelona mountains, next to a creek leading to the Santa Clara River, they will be restoring an area of the wildlands damaged by the Copper Fire by caring for the native chaparral plants which provide deer, coyotes and others with food and shelter. Expect to get your hands dirty removing invasive weeds and carrying buckets of water to native plantings over uneven terrain.

Join TreePeople in partnership with the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) to rehabilitate native ecosystems and conduct restoration across the Route Fire scar of the Angeles National Forest. Alongside the glimmering surface of Castaic Lake, tucked in between the mountains of the Sierra Pelona Ridge, they will be restoring degraded land by planting native species and removing quick-burning invasive plants. This project's ultimate goal is to help restore the natural balance of our local ecosystem and make it more sustainable for plants, animals, and people!

Join the PVP Land Conservancy as they continue their habitat restoration work in Lunada Canyon at the Agua Amarga Nature Reserve. They will be removing non-native plants and/or planting coastal sage scrub habitat! They will be working outdoors, so please wear closed-toed shoes, bug spray, sun protection and be sure to bring drinking water and a snack. Please note that events may be cancelled due to weather conditions. Please check the event page at https://pvplc.volunteerhub.com before leaving for the event. All volunteers under 18 must have a parent or guardian sign and complete their release before they can volunteer. All volunteers under 16 should be accompanied by an adult.

The Hometown Country Fair features a car show, live entertainment, a dog parade, pie-eating contest, food, karaoke contest, inflatables, a silent auction and a wide variety of vendor booths, providing fun for people of all ages.
