Volunteer at Ahead With Horses’ Garden Landscaping Party!

Ahead With Horses is looking for volunteers to help at their other location with landscaping, watering, planting, and weed clearance. This is very important for fire safety. YOU MUST SIGN UP BY 4:00PM ON SATURDAY, THE DAY PRIOR, IN ORDER TO CONFIRM THAT THEY WILL BE THERE. (If they do not have anyone signed up by that time, there is no guarantee that they will still be having the opportunity.) Their dress code requires you to wear closed-toe shoes and long pants for safety reasons. They also recommend bringing plenty of water. If you have your own gloves or tools, please bring them with you. They will have some if needed. A reminder that they always require volunteers to be 12 and older.

Join the Sycamore Canyon Restoration at Arroyos and Foothils Conservancy

Join AFC at Sycamore Canyon in Glendale! They're working to make this corridor more inviting and healthy for wildlife. Restoration tasks can range from removing invasive species, mulching, and more. Please bring water, sunscreen, and work gloves. They recommend wearing pants, long sleeves, and sturdy shoes. If available, feel free to bring any of the following tools: shovel, loppers, or trowel. Other tools and equipment will be available.⁠ The entrance to the Preserve is near 2833 E Chevy Chase Drive. Street parking available. Restoration is led by Tim Martinez. Help Retired Farm Animals at The Gentle Barn

At The Gentle Barn, they save the lives of animals who are too old, sick, scared, or injured to be adopted, and who would otherwise be euthanized. They give the animals sanctuary with us, and when they are ready, partner with them to help people suffering from the same stories of trauma, and connect people to the love and magic of animals. The Gentle Barn is host to foster agencies, drug and alcohol rehab centers, war veteran centers, domestic violence shelters, homeless shelters, children’s hospitals, burn centers, and individuals suffering from depression, anxiety, and grief. They are looking for outgoing, motivated, and consistent people to join our volunteer team! Applicants must be 14 years or older. What will volunteers do? There's a variety of tasks that volunteers may be asked to do: Side walking/spotting during lessons, Leading horses during lessons, Grooming horses, Cleaning stalls, Landscaping/gardening, General ranch work, Assisting with office work. What will volunteers need to bring or wear? Closed toed shoes, long pants, and a shirt with sleeves (T-shirts are fine; no tank tops) are required. A hat is recommended on sunny days. They recommend bringing plenty of water. Volunteers must be at least 12 years old. All volunteers must sign a liability release form once a year; please click here to take care of that now (if under 18, must be signed by a parent/guardian). Some horse experience is preferred, especially for certain tasks. If you are registering guests along with yourself, each volunteer still needs to complete the liability release form. Protect Wild Habitats with Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy’s Rapid Response Team

The Palos Verdes Peninsula Land Conservancy is the only nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting and restoring the Peninsula’s natural lands, rare wildlife and coastal beauty for the benefit of its communities. The Conservancy is committed to protecting and restoring the Peninsula’s unique local habitats that sustain rare and endangered species, including helping to lead the recovery of the endangered Palos Verdes Blue Butterfly, which is found only on the Palos Verdes Peninsula and was once thought extinct. The Rapid Response Teams protect important wildlife habitat by helping to close unauthorized trails through trail maintenance, installing signage, fences and more.
